It has been discovered that the pigtail HDMI extender cable initially used in the IRL Backpack v7 can cause issues with the HDMI video feed due to electromagnetic interference (EMI). A quick solution for this issue is removing the extender cable from an affected backpack and connecting the main loom HDMI cable to the LiveU Solo PRO directly instead.
If the issues persist after removal of the extender cable, it could be a sign that your main loom HDMI cable needs replacing. Depending on the amount and type of use, all cables and their connections will always wear down over time so should be considered consumables.
The most common issues are caused by HDMI cables as they were never designed for constant movement or twisting etc. Complete replacement camera cable looms, with HDMI and USB cables included, can be ordered here: unlimitedirl.com/cables
You can find instructions on how to replace the main loom HDMI cable here: support.unlimitedirl.com/troubleshooting/how-to-replace-the-main-hdmi-cable
For removing the pigtail HDMI extender, follow these steps:
- Open the lower compartment where you'll find the main loom HDMI cable connected to a pigtail HDMI extender cable
- Disconnect the main loom HDMI cable from the pigtail HDMI extender cable
- Disconnect the pigtail HDMI extender cable from the LiveU Solo PRO in the side pocket
- Remove the pigtail HDMI extender cable from the backpack entirely by threading it through the hole in the side wall of the backpack
- Connect the main loom HDMI cable to the LiveU Solo PRO directly by threading it through the same hole from step 4.
